With the mild winter, we haven't really had a ton of birds at our feeders. The raccoon stolen feeders haven't helped either. On the same day that I saw the pileated woodpecker, we had a ton of robins all over our yard. I noticed mixed in among them, a red winged blackbird. I don't often see those in our yard so I stopped working to watch. More and more and more continued to fly over the house and land in our neighbors backyard. Easily over a 100. I went outside to get a closer look. My neighbor did the same thing and they took off flying back toward me. This photo shows what happens when you aren't exactly prepared. The bottom photo is my neighbors front yard with just a small number of birds in this flock.
